We live in a quiet neighborhood in a turn of the century farmhouse built in 1899 from trees on the property. We bought the home in 1998. We remodeled it from top to bottom and added new rooms and a garage. We have raised our children and are empty nesters now. That is why we decided instead of downsizing we would make our guestroom a spot for travelers. Our home isn’t right next to anything, but is centrally located to everything, in the country and worth the drive! There are many attractions in our area you may want to explore while you are here. We are on the main drag for snowmobilers and ORV enthusiasts. It is a prime location for hunting and fishing. The second biggest lake in the state—Burt Lake—is less than two miles away. Indian River is the home of the largest crucifix in the world which is five miles away. There is a public beach (Devos beach) on Burt Lake near downtown Indian River. There is kayaking, tubing, and boating on the two rivers: Indian and Sturgeon. Mackinaw Island, made famous by the movie, “Somewhere In Time” with Christopher Reeves, is 45 miles away. Mackinaw City in the summer has a wealth of attractions, including Fort Michilimackinac, Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, the Ice Breaker Mackinaw Maritime, Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park, and the mighty Mackinaw Bridge that connects the lower and upper peninsulas. There are many world class restaurants, breweries, casinos, museums, and shops too numerous to name here. We are near Petoskey and the beautiful Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan with quaint downtown shopping as well as big box stores and more restaurants! Gaylord is also a straight shot down the expressway where you will find more shopping, breweries and dining!
