Great location and a fun experience!

Nancy is a phenomenal host who takes a lot of time to talk and offers great experiences and suggestions while there. I was invited to do the mediation sessions at her tea house on Wednesdays and at the zendo on Sunday mornings during my two week stay, Nancy was flexible with letting me start work at 10 am and work until noon. The hardest job I had was stacking wood. The room was rustic and the toilet was composting. Drawbacks were It is not easy to get to at night. Also if there are guests above in barn, you hear some noise. There were some animal noises rustling at times but not in the room. This is why I gave it a 4 star and not total 5. The hot shower is awesome. The location is also superb and lots to do. I would definitely go back! I loved this experience and with some preparation you will too. Bring some cushioning if you don’t like hard mattress. Also no laundry so pack a lot of clothes and bring work clothes ! Gloves and boots A flashlight for the bathroom too

What a beautiful, peaceful spot! I thoroughly enjoyed my "barn living" - cozy room and well equipped simple kitchen had all that I needed. Nancy was flexible with the work exchange and it was easy to find 2 hours each day for some gardening. Just make sure to plan on an extra 2 hours somewhere in your stay if you don't work the first night (late arrival). My morning and evening walks down to the bay for swims were transformative. Seals, eagles, osprey, plovers and terns...and except for one evening, not another human soul out at the water. It was hard to leave.

Nancy's a sweet lady with a lovely property. The location is amazing with proximity to good trails and beaches in Surry and Blue Hill and a short drive to Acadia. It's a great way to see what the Maine coast is like and has to offer.
