Notso Hostel was great! We got in town earlier than check in, and the hostel staff were more than accommodating to let us park in their lot in the morning so we could enjoy our day in Charleston. Simple room, and a shared kitchen and bathroom but it was exactly what we expected. Easy Uber to the historic district, but there are also great little food/bar/coffee places in the area.

I’ve stayed in dozens of hostels and I do not recommend this one. It felt unclean. We stayed in the Cuba room for 3 nights. We wanted to like it but won’t be back. + Great location. The best thing about the property. +Responsive, nice hosts! +Nice to have shared kitchen as an option. +The alley well is well lit in the dark. +Felt relatively safe-ish for two young women staying here. Though, would've liked to see a better lock (more sturdy) for the inside door that leads to the shared kitchen. Reasons for our rating; - Black mold on shared bathroom sink between Cuba and Brazil rooms. Gross. -MUSTY in room and shared spaces (including towels). I understand it’s an old home but this should be included in the listing. Maybe include air filter machines? -Microwave is disgusting. This should be cleaned between guests. -Room is smaller than photos so that felt misleading. -Weak electrical outlets in the Cuba room. It does NOT support two things plugged in at the same time.

The Cuba room was a great budget friendly option for staying in Charleston. It had all the amenities we needed and make our trip so nice
