TARA, Kalyan's cottage in Ranikhet is an absolute gem of a find - especially if you are a pet parent. The property is gated with walls and fencing so there is no threat of your pets jumping out - and the monkey visits in the morning as they follow the rising sun are sure to get your furball's blood pumping as they go into alert mode. The rooms are large and spacious, the view from the bedrooms and the dining room of the far-away mountain range is idyllic, and all-in-all this was a great stay! I visited in the peak of winter when the mercury was around the 0-degree mark at night - so it was cold, and come prepared if you are coming up in the winter, with lots of warm clothes. There are heaters for the rooms but it does get very cold, even indoors. For meals, there is a nice restaurant just up the road, or you can use the kitchen. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this place is ideal! I hope to return in the future sometime.

We had a great time at Tara. It was cosy, comfortable and kept us warm in the chilly Dec winter.. We liked the decor and numerous artefacts around the home. Great collection of books, on different topics. I could spend a long time just reading. Ohh and those audio casettes, brought back memories and how simple and involving music was back then. The girls also enjoyed cooking. Kids had spaces to run around. Calm and peaceful place. I would recommend your place to anyone making a getaway trip Thanks

Great place, tastefully decorated and personalized. Kalyan and Anand were tremendous hosts. The house is within the woods so we felt it was a bit over cold for us being winter season. I think it will be a great place to spend entire month in summers.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. It’s a very comfortable place with everything you may need. Lots of books to read, great views from the top floor bedrooms, good bath fittings, functional kitchen, etc. It’s right across a forest so you can go for long walks or drives. The caretaker Shubham is well trained and courteous. He can make simple North Indian meals and does so happily. We stayed for 5 nights and never felt we needed anything that wasn’t there at the cottage. The hosts very very communicative - Kalyan Ji courteously checked in on us; Tushar was always connected to answer questions and make suggestions. Very good hosts.
