The cottage is located in the Junior College neighborhood, which is about twelve blocks from downtown Santa Rosa and maybe a mile and a half from Highway 101. The neighborhood consists of original farmhouses of the 10-40 acre farms which dotted the valley from the late 1800's, filled in with houses built mostly from the 1910's to the 1940's, with some newer construction as well. The rural cemetery, dating from the 1840's, is now a beautiful park, and is a block away from the cottage. Willi’s Wine Bar, one of Sonoma County's most-loved small plates restaurants, and Pacific Market, a locally-owned grocery store, are a couple of blocks away, a leisurely walk through the cemetery in the Town and Country Center. The Center also has a dry cleaner and Sandy’s Take ‘n’ Bake pizza.
A little further afield, about 15-18 blocks away, is downtown Santa Rosa, with the newly constructed Courthouse Square, and just a jump under the freeway from there is Historic Railroad Square, with outstanding restaurants, an antique store, a vintage clothing store, and much more.
