This place is a great value for staying in Penestanan, right outside Ubud. It works well for a long-term stay, with generous space and a working kitchen. The outside area is relaxing and lovely, and the indoor seating area is great for when you want shelter and shade. Kadek is a super relaxed and helpful host. The one small drawback is the sound of traffic on the nearby street. But if a little local noise doesn’t bother you, this place is a great value and really comfortable. Highly recommended.

Our stay here at Golden Garden has been amazing. Kadek is definitely a super host; nothing was too much trouble and whatever we needed, he happily provided. I loved the spaciousness of the rooms, the bale and kitchen outside overlooking the fishpond, the gorgeous tropical garden and the feeling of seclusion. I have totally enjoyed my stay here and can highly recommend Golden Garden. Its location is great because not only is it in walking distance of Ubud, you can still experience village life first thing in the morning. While here, I highly recommend you try the bubur sold by a grandmother each afternoon at 5 just outside the hotel gate. Not only is it delicious, but it is authentic Balinese food, unlike most of which is sold in the Ubud restaurants. Thank you Kadek for an enjoyable stay and will see you again when I am next visiting Bali.

Awesome host, great location, really lovely private meditation and prayer shrine, outdoor kitchen, and pond. Green and lush.
