Old restored farmhouse, detached, in a peacefull hamlet, surrounded with fields. The house offers a total getaway into the beautifull rolling countryside of the Southern Charente, among sunflower, wheat and corn fields. 2 miles away is Chalais, a busy but small market town w all necessary amenities: a vibrant street market, restaurants, supermarket, bank, a pittoresque outdoor swimming pool w diving boards and baby pool, a large dominant chateau, a train station w direct trains to Bordeaux. The one-storey stone house, with tiled roof and wooden shutters is over 300years old and is located in the heart of a quiet hamlet (6 other houses with friendly neighbours) named "Les Foucaudes". It has both a front and back garden. The recently and fully equiped kitchen, with its thick, dark wooden ceiling, has a lot of caracter. It opens up through a large french door to the back garden, where nothern exposure provides good shade for outdoor lunches. A solid outdoor table seating 8. The house stays cool in the summer thanks to its thick stone walls. The 2 spacious bedrooms have wooden floors and exposed beams which create a warm atmosphere. On the same level is the bathroom and a separate toilet. The large living room has a comfortable leather sofa, facing the woodburner and TV, an a large farm table.

Magico cottage nel cuore della campagna Abbiamo trascorso una splendida settimana ospiti di Brigitte. Caratteristico, ampio cottage ben ambientato nella tranquillissima campagna circostante. L'arredamento è semplice ma eclettico e di buon gusto, l'ampio giardino splendidamente curato, cenare fuori è stata una delizia. La cucina è fornita di ogni accessorio, gli spazi sono accoglienti e vissuti. Brigitte è stata molto disponibile e ci ha fornito utili consigli e indicazioni sulle attività e i luoghi da visitare. Assolutamente consigliato, perfetto per una vacanza in famiglia alla ricerca di pace e tranquillità.

Nous conseillons vivement, belle maison avec jardin très agréable pour prendre le repas en extérieur. Endroit calme, propre et cuisine bien équipée. Avantage important: garde une certaine fraîcheur par forte chaleur. Hôtesse très sympathique, avenante et disponible. Nous y retournerons avec plaisir!

Maison parfaite pour se reposer et profiter de doux moments en famille. Très joliment décorée, elle est très agréable car les pièces communiquent et le jardin est absolument charmant. Il y a tout ce dont on a besoin pour y passer de bonnes vacances au calme ! Détail qui a son importance pour les dormeurs: la literie est très bonne. De plus, il y a toutes les commodités à 5min en voiture.

Nous avons passé une semaine en famille dans cette fermette. Tout était très propre et nous avons apprécié la qualité des ustensiles de cuisine et le mobilier de jardin. Le coin est très calme et nous avons pu profiter de la campagne.

There are many nearby safe lakeside and riverside beaches with leisure activities. Brossac, 2 miles away from the house, offers a large swimming lake and beaches in a beautifull woodland valley. Not far is Aubeterre, a lovely village on a hill with an extraordinary 12th century underground cathedral, good shops and restaurants, overlooking the river. Hiring kayaks and paddling downriver is great fun. On the atlantic coast, less than 2 hours drive, is the very popular stylish seaide resort of Royan from where you can reach unspoilt sandy beaches
