Clara and Roly are such a delightful couple, we really enjoyed their company. From day one and for the whole month that we stayed, they did everything they possibly could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Always happy to oblige and go the extra mile, such us bringing us fruit from their community garden. We enjoyed learning all about the projects that they are involved with and meeting some of their friends. Roly took us in his car into Havana whenever we asked. They showed us around Cojimar and the shops to buy provisions. We couldn’t have asked for more. There are a couple of issues with the area and Cuba at this time we feel we should mention so that you come prepared. There are food shortages and limited choice in the shops in Cojimar, but there are good restaurants nearby. There is no useable public tourist transport into Havana from Cojimar and taxis are relatively expensive, but Roly took us in and brought us back for a very reasonable fee.

Clara’s place is a nice well maintained apartment on the upper floor of the house. Despite of not knowing english we were able to communicate with Clara very well through translate. She and her husband were super helpful and awesome host. They treat you like family and not business. Clara’s hubamd was always there for us to pick up and drop whenever we wanted. The normal taxi would charge you exorbitant but they helped us and made us feel safe as we were two girls travelling with minimal cost. Super host/family!!! I recommend this place for the the best cuban people we met.

If I ever have a chance to go back to Cuba, I can guarantee I will either stay at Villa Rosshe or come back to visit Clara and Rolando. You have complete access to the entire second level which boasts four (Yes! Four...) lovely patios to sit and enjoy the freash ocean air. The living quarters are comfortable and sparkling clean, and the house is situated just a few blocks south of the north shore in the town of Cojimar. A new seafood restaurant just opened (2020) only two blocks away from the house, and it serves the tastiest food in town, in my opinion. Although you have all the privacy you want or need, Clara and Rolando are always more than happy to entertain you in their main floor suite for coffee or breakfast and a good chat. I even found myself skipping a couple of my pre-planned Havana outings to practice my Spanish with the hosts over coffee. If you have a chance to visit Cohimar, this is definitely a place to consider.
