We drove up from Nashville to enjoy a few days of hiking around Southern Illinois before the 2024 solar eclipse and Ellen’s Peacock Inn was a great location! You can easily hop on the Tunnel Hill trail nearby or take a drive to Shawnee National Forest. Vienna Diner is just around the corner and definitely worth a visit. I would highly recommend Ellen’s place for your trip to Southern Illinois!

We had a great stay at Ellen's place. It's centrally located in Vienna, but still very quiet at night. It's also close to the parks in the area and to the bike trail. The apartment is well equiped, and the bed is large and comfortable. The only thing to note is that the Wifi is very slow, and there is almost no cell-phone reception (at least AT&T) in the area. So it's hard to make voice calls and do work if it requires more than emails. For vacation, it's perfect!

This was my second time staying at Ellen's place. Just as before, she was very flexible on check in/check out times, proactive with communication and I felt very welcomed. It was a great location- right in the heart of the town of Vienna, and close to wonderful hiking spots in Shawnee National Forest. I'd recommend staying here to anyone who wants to check out the local nature offerings or just have a relaxing getaway in a peaceful locale. Thank you, Ellen!
