When we arrived Lizzeth went over all the basics with us and helped us set up an itinerary for the day which was so thoughtful! The room was spacious and there was a fan for every bed in the room. We arrived early in the afternoon and there were a massive amount of gnats but they seemed die down by nighttime. WiFi was available and worked well on our phones but our friend had difficulty reading and sending work emails from his laptop. The listing and pictures accurately described everything and we would recommend staying here!

Euch erwartet eine rustikale, einfach ausgestattete Unterkunft. Das Frühstück, wie auch das zu buchbare Abendessen, waren sehr lecker und abwechslungsreich. Auf Sonderwünsche (vegan) wurde eingegangen. Auch kann die Familie euch dabei helfen einen Guide zu besorgen, welcher zum Beispiel für das besteigen der Vulkane obligatorisch ist und auch einen Zahnarzt haben sie für uns angerufen, welcher am selben Tag noch für uns zur Unterkunft gekommen ist. Wir können die Unterkunft wärmstens weiter empfehlen und würden nochmal hier einkehren.

If your looking for an authentic experience this is it. We were hosted by Mama Rosario. She made an amazing dinner. I’ve been in Nicaragua and it was the best meal I’ve had to far. The dogs were friendly and super sweet. In the morning my two younger children helped collect eggs and played with Mamas sweet grand children. They really liked Mama and kept asking me, “how do you say, Can I help?” so they could help cook. Mamas breakfast was incredible as well. We would def stay here again. Thank you!!

Ometepe was enchanting and everything that I had hoped it to be. Mark and Lizzeth's family at Las Peñitas was extremely kind and accommodating. We had a great time seeing the area and enjoying the porch at night where Mama Rosario's cooking was amazing! The house is located DIRECTLY in front of Volcano Concepcion. The view is absolutely breathtaking in the evening. Though a little further from town than I normally like, we had no problem renting bikes to visit Ojo de Agua and renting motos to tour the island by day, eventually visiting Playa Santo Domingo which I highly recommend. Ometepe is a must see for any adventurous traveler. Fair warning, this particular area is not comfortable for anyone with serious bug fears. There are spiders, gnats, mosquitos, cochroaches, bees, you name it! Mark and Lizzeth have done there best to create a comfortable place despite these challenges. A full bar on site, a wonderful cook ( Mama Rosario), and running water. What more could you need! The value can't be beat. Definitely recommend to anyone with a little adventure in their soul.

Exactly what we were looking for! Mark made us feel right at home and Mama made the best meals. Mark hooked us up with Arlin, our guide for hiking Conceptión- he was great too!
