We spent two nights at Felipe’s homestay and it was the highlight of our three-week trip. We brought three generations of family, ranging from age 17-65 and everyone enjoyed themselves. The Ausangate hiking followed by aguas terminales was amazing and something we will always remember. Felipe was very knowledgeable and eager to share information about the culture and the landscape. They fed us beyond well and while it was very cold at night we had many thick blankets. We really appreciated getting to know both Felipe and his son William.

We stayed at Felipe's place for one night then did the 6 day Ausangate trek (which turned into 4 days) with him. We took a bus from Cusco for 10 soles each, and Felipe met us in Tinke where we had lunch then headed to his place for the night before the trek. His accomadations have everything you need and nothing you don't. It's in a beautiful, rural location with lots of animals nearby. We had never backpacked with a guide or Arriero before and were slightly apprehensive of this as we enjoy solitude while out in nature, but Felipe was a very helpful, knowledgable, and kind presence. Both myself and my girlfriend got sick while on the trek and Felipe was extremely understanding and flexible in modifying our original plans to help us get back two days earlier than originally planned. We brought our own equipment/food, and it was much less expensive than any of the prices that we were quoted in Cusco. Additionally, your money goes directly to the people who live in the area of the trek, instead of a large agency in Cusco. Felipe made the seemingly complex process of an independently organized trek extremely easy and we really appreciated. It would be helpful to know at least some basic Spanish for communication purposes. It was a great experience and I'd 100% recommend staying at his place and doing the Ausangate trek with him!
