We stayed from November thru the holidays until the end of January. What a great big, old house! Charming and historic, the place gives a real feel of living in the hills of Connecticut. We got the tail end of fall with the beauty of the foliage and then a solid run of snowy wintry weather thru Christmas. A true white Christmas! The chickens on the property were very cool and also prolific egg providers. The neighbors were beyond friendly and definitely helped guide us through. All in all a great experience introducing us to the area, the state, the people, and the surrounding areas from northern to southern parts of the Connecticut. Super good value and a really nice stay.....

We stayed at this house for two months and we were very comfortable and felt at home. Steffen is excellent at communicating and answered any questions we had very quickly and thoroughly, and even gave tips about places to visit in the area. The house was quite clean, although it was built in the 1700s, so don't expect everything to be sparkling and new, and there's definitely a fireplace smell around the main fireplaces (to be expected). The decor is really interesting, especially if you're into history or other cultures. The yard is absolutely wonderful, we felt like we were in Europe eating late lunches outside under the grapevines overlooking the garden, and we were able to pick blackberries, apples, and chives straight from the yard. We took care of the chickens while we were there, which was fun and meant we had fresh eggs every day, and the neighbors were very friendly and helpful. There's plenty of places to sleep, although there's only actual adult size bed, the others are a very small bed, a large mattress, and a couple sofabeds. The area is historic and residential, and there are beautiful hiking trails and an old grist mill just a very short walk away. We also made use of the lake that's about a 10 minute drive away for paddleboarding! Overall a very nice place to be, especially when one has to stay home most of the time.

Gorgeous yard and gardens. Fun staying in an almost 300 year old house with historical significance. Steffen is awesome and very responsive.
