Wow 🤩 This place is fantastic! Clean is an understatement! It is immaculate! Looks brand new! We stayed in 102 which is basically the basement of a walk-out! We had a patio that was shared with 5 other rooms that looks out into a park- like setting backyard complete with a fireplace sitting area, running water stream, hanging bench swing, gazebo area and another bench in a gorgeous woodsy area! The basement has a pool table, wet bar, TV, comfortable sitting area, puzzle table and dining table to eat or play games at. Also, a full sized washer/dryer, coffee/tea station and 2nd restroom. She lakes all the food from scratch and it is delicious 😋 Chocolate Chip cookies 🍪 available up by reception area. You may eat your breakfast in the dining area @ 7:30 AM, have it delivered to your room at 8 or eat in the dining room @ 8:30. Was glad I brought my bike, as there are bike trails everywhere!!! This was our 1st visit to the Okaboji/Spirit Lake area and we hope to return!!!
Great place. Very clean and the bed was so comfortable, I never got up once in the night! (Usually up about 3 times.) It was a nice surprise to find a working piano that John was allowed to play. Thank you so much!!!
Delicious homemade breakfast. Beautiful Oak filled grounds with a water feature and seating areas. Close to Nature Center and Performance Art Center. Kind and Professional.
You’d be a fool not to stay here. Choose the breakfast in your room or go to the dining room for breakfast. The to go box was lovely, though I wish I had set aside time to have the other option. The environment is stunning along with amazing hosts who cater to every single need you have. I felt as though I was in Louisiana from the jazz music playing upon walking in and the beautiful home. I will be coming back!
Breakfasts are luscious and coffee is to die for! Serene, lovely landscaping. Delightful experience.

Bill is a 3rd generation innkeeper, growing up in his family’s roadside Best Western in Worthington, MN and learning the ropes at his grandfather’s motels in LaMars, Sidney, Denison and Sheldon, IA. He checked in his first guest when he was 12. Bill learned the business at his father’s and grandfather’s knee, and along with his sister, purchased the Best Western from his father in 1996. They sold it in 2000, and Bill worked a variety of construction jobs until purchasing The Oakwood Inn with his wife, Bridget. Bridget is originally from Wells, MN. She has worked in the hospitality industry for the past 18-1/2 years, getting her start at the Best Western Fergus Falls, Fergus Falls, MN. Her hospitality career has taken her to Rochester, MN where she worked at the Holiday Inn City Center, Rochester Marriott and The Kahler Grand Hotel before moving to Steamboat Springs, CO. There she worked for Starwood Hotels at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort and met Bill. They returned to the Midwest to get married at their favorite destination – Okoboji. After several more years in Steamboat Springs, the couple moved to Glenwood Springs, CO, where Bridget was part of the executive committee opening The Westin Snowmass Resort outside Aspen, CO. Her most recent assignment for Starwood Hotels was in Houston, TX, working for The Westin Galleria & Westin Oaks hotels. Bill and Bridget realized a shared life-long dream in April, 2016, when they purchased The Oakwood Inn.
