While we enjoyed our trip and particularly enjoyed our rental’s proximity to the ocean, we were disappointed/concerned with a few things about the property. 1.) The listing advertises a “beach condo” when the property is in fact a basement apartment. Concrete floors, cinder block walls, and a general damp and musty smell weren’t exactly what we were thinking when we decided to rent the place. 2.) The Wi-Fi was not working upon arrival and it wasn’t until the next day around noon that someone came by to reset the router. For what it’s worth, the property manager(s) were quite responsive and did offer to come by the night of our arrival but we had our 2.5 year old daughter with us and she was already sleeping at that time. 3.) The biggest and most problematic issue with the rental is that there is clearly some faulty electrical wiring with the property. I’m a home inspector and have a good deal of experience with wiring in homes and something was clearly wrong with various branch circuits in the home. The room our daughter was staying in had zero outlets working so we were unable to use a lamp, plug in her nightlight, use her sound machine for sleeping, or use the fan provided to help cool the room since AC didn’t circulate back to that room. We made it work by plugging in a power strip to an outlet in the bathroom that prevented us from being able to close the bathroom door. When the property manager and maintenance supervisor came by our second day to reset the router, they also checked the breaker which had tripped and was the cause of the lack of power in that room. After resetting the breaker, it worked for a short period and then tripped again. They reset the breaker once more before leaving and it worked for a little longer before tripping again. We told them not to worry about coming back out again because it would inevitably keep tripping. Any time a breaker repeatedly trips (especially if it’s only low voltage things like lamps and fans plugged in), something is wrong with the wiring and possibly poses a hazard to those in the house. The GFCI in the bathroom was also tripped and poses a hazard as well. All in all, we were happy about the location of the rental, but the actual space itself left a lot to be desired.

Great location- so close to the beach, restaurants and shops- yet quiet and off the street. Adequate space for three of us- loved the simple decor. The host was super - responsive, friendly and helpful.

Awesome location steps from Tybee beach. Go left to catch the sunrise, right for a beautiful sunset. Accommodations were clean and comfortable, kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and dishes. We had a great time and would definitely reserve this again.

The half floor apartment is nice enough for a small family of four. There is no AC in the second bedroom and it gets pretty warm. We resorted to taking the box fans and pointing them into the bedroom from the kitchen area to try and cool the room off. The layout is nice with a kitchen as you walk in and then a small living room with a small TV. The master bedroom is just past the living room with a queen bed. The bed was fairly firm but you could feel the springs through it. We suggested the owner invest in a mattress topper at the very least. The second bedroom is to the left when you walk in the door with two single beds. It was perfect for our two children minus the lack of AC. Outside there is a shower around the patio from the front door so you can rinse off all the sand and salt before going inside (very nicely placed). All in all it was a good place to rent at a great location. Parking is a little inconvenient as the owner of the home doesn't want anyone parking in the space that keeps you out of the neighbor's way, instead you have to park on the driveway next to a privacy fence. If you have two cars, know that your second car will be pretty close to the access to the neighbors house and might be in their way. MOST IMPORTANT: Joy was the property manager and representative for Natural Retreats and she was AMAZING!! Best experience we've had with AirBNB we've had so far was her!
