We are a family of 5 with two boys 8/5 and a 4 month old. The place was a perfect river cottage experience. If you like water, swimming, kayaking and river camp life this is the place. We loved it, our kids loved it and we’ve every intention of being back (our kids asked as soon as we drove off!).

Valerie is a pro! Couldn’t have been more accommodating. The kids spent every waking hour fishing and catching frogs and crayfish. The small kayaks were perfect for our 5 year old who just paddled around the calm, clear and shallow cove all on his own at times. We all paddled around frequently, spotting fish and just relaxing. The kids played in the sand a lot as well. No more than 10 minutes from the cabin to Alex Bay. Valerie is selling herself short with the pictures in the listing currently! A lot of improvements have been made since the photos were taken.

We had a wonderful week at Valerie’s cottage. It was cozy and comfortable. We had five adults, two couples and our elderly mom. One couple was up in the loft, accessible by ladder. Getting suitcases up the ladder was a little challenge but it was a nice space, private and with a room air conditioner. The inside kitchen was small but well stocked. The outdoor kitchen area was wonderful! Regular large grill, refrigerator, large sink and work area to prep food. They have a good amount of chairs around to relax in. The outdoor space was amazing! I think they could highlight that more in their description. Very large open yard, with shared access to the dock. We enjoyed swimming out to the floating dock. The water is calm in the little cove area. The fire pit and benches were great for a campfire. Valerie was quick to respond when we needed more propane for the grill😊 Very happy we had the opportunity to stay here! Worked out great for us.

The outside kitchen is Fantastic! Kids did all the kayaking, fishing, and swimming they wanted. Beautiful sunsets every night, and watching the big ships go by everyday was fun. Nice to be kinda secluded, and quiet at night when it was time for bed.
