We could not imagine better accomodation and the host! House was very clean, three rooms, garden in the back of the house that you can spend in your time after windsurfing! Windsurfing area is less then two kilometers away and you can easy get there, so location of the house itself is also perfect! Elpida welcomed us wormly, with homade greek specialities. She recommended us many places to visit around what made our vacation there even more attractive. 10 out of 5 stars! Really recommend!

Elpidas Haus war genau das Richtige für uns, die wir in schöner Umgebung zur Ruhe kommen wollten. Wir waren bezaubert vom Garten mit den vielen schattigen Ruhemöglichkeiten und der riesigen leuchtenden Bougainvillea, das Haus ist liebevoll und geschmackvoll traditionell eingerichtet, mit Klimaanlage, Kaffeemaschinen für jeden Geschmack und einfacher, aber mit dem Wesentlichen ausgestatteten Kücheneinrichtung. Wenige Autominuten entfernt sind landschaftlich wunderbare kleine, ruhige Strände, und gleich beim Haus das Zentrum des kleinen, ebenfalls äußerst entspannten Palekastro, in dessen Lokalen man teils großartiges Essen bekommt. Elpida haben wir als sehr sympathische, aufmerksame und bei Fragen immer erreichbare Gastgeberin erlebt. Alles in allem eine bezaubernde Unterkunft mit besonderem Flair, in Verbindung mit der Umgebung ein perfektes Package für Menschen, die in schöner Umgebung ihrer Seele und ihrem Körper etwas Gutes tun wollen.

Elpida’s place is even better live than on the photos. The back garden was a little tranquil heaven. She is a kind and very accommodating person. We loved our stay.

We loved our stay at Grannie’s house. Palekastro is a great location for exploring the east side of the island. It has nice shops and great restaurants and the house is located just off the main square. The house is simple and the kitchen/living room is cosy. We liked the sense of staying in a real rustic Cretan village house. The veranda with the bougainvillea tree shade was really wonderful and is your living room for the stay, very private with a garden you can walk through. We sat there each day in the evening. The surrounding area is amazing…we went to many beaches including Vai (just ok in my book) and others that were better including some to the south of palekastro around xerokampos. We also enjoyed the gorges, and the Minoan ruins of the area including those right nearby. We also went to Sitka, just a 25 min drive northwest. We ate every night in the village and went to different restaurants throughout the week. Elpida and Virginie were extremely helpful and responsive.

Elpida’s house is located in the beautiful small town of Palekastro. We loved the location which is a perfect mix of authenticity and low-key tourism. Palekastro is rather lively with a bakery, butcher, vegetable store and several small grocery stores and restaurants. The beaches in the surrounding are beautiful. There is also a surf beach nearby with shops offering lessons and rentals. The house is great and has a lot of character. All rooms are airconditioned. We also enjoyed the sitting area in the garden. The house has everything you need to relax after a nice day of exploration in the area.
