We spent three nights at the Red Rock Hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and the restaurant served very good food. There is a very nice small garden at the back and a pleasant patio in the front. The bedroom was big and comfortable and any problems we had with the water supply or drainage in the bathroom were immediately attended to by staff. Well situated with lovely views. A good place to stay.

I had a terrible experience with shimeles, who lied to me, was incredibly rude, and demanded more money for a stay I had booked a month in advance. he repeatedly hung up on me, lied about the reservation process and to the Airbnb staff who contacted him on my behalf, and refused to let me stay in the room I had booked and paid for unless I paid more (a lot more) money. avoid this host if you want to have a peaceful and pleasant stay in lalibela...

We had an excellent stay with Shimeles at the Red Rock Guest House. The place is very well run by a very kind and thoughtful team. Our room was very nice, extremely clean and had incredible views of the mountains from our balcony. The shower had nice hot water, just remember to plug in the hot water heater for a while before you shower. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the coffee ceremoniously prepared by the team throughout the day. The location is great, near the center of town. Within walking distance to many things and a quick tuktuk ride to the market or churches. If we ever return to Lalibela, we will stay here again. In the meantime, we will send all our friends.
