Kris is a great host and Morts Place is the perfect place to stay. You can literally walk to the river or drive to Soldotna in a couple minutes. I stay there every year and will be back again next year.

Awesome place and awesome host, she provided some recommendations and a tour of the house. Offered to let us use her fishing gear and we ate some wonderful fish that she had in the freezer. Hope to stay again next time I am here.

Our stay at Mort’s place was fantastic!! Felt so homey! Like our own little private piece of Alaska. So close to all the spots we wanted to fish and close enough to either Soldotna and Russian River camp that is was a great home base for that too. Kris was wonderful as well! I didn’t know when I booked but she stocked the place with staples for cooking, fruit, milk, cereal, ect. It really made the stay amazing! Not having to worry about that stuff and having what I needed to cook my salmon or have oatmeal in the morning was great! It was like staying at your super cool Alaskan Aunt’s house who loves you and made sure you had snacks! Only with the Arts center was open during our stay so we could’ve bought a piece of her beautiful pottery!

This was the best example of a true B&B. The cupboard was full of a variety of cereals, the fridge had lots of breakfast items and condiments. English muffins, bagels, milk and orange juice were in the fridge. A bowl of fresh fruit graced the dinner table! Kris was available any time, but respectful of our space. It’s a fine apartment in a beautifully wooded area. Easy to find. The furniture is older but comfortable. If we go to the Kenai Peninsula again, we’ll stay at Mort’s Place!
