What a lovely stay we had at Otters Holt. Felt like a little secret hidden gem. Good communication with the host and the place was spotless. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful few days at Otters Holt. The lodge is beautiful, spacious and warm and with the most amazing view over the river. The hot tub on the veranda was an extra treat! Killin is a super wee village, very friendly whether you are renting a kayak or eating out, we loved it!

Lovely stay at otters holt, the accommodation is really high quality and beautiful outlook and setting. Killin is a brilliant base for all area and we had a fab time. Great communication with the host and overall would recommend and would book again. A few small things - the deck is not quite as secluded as in the pics, you overlook a second lodge next door. Also some of the “pandemic practices” like 10am check out/4pm check in and limited amenities (no hair dryer, kitchen paper or oil, tea/coffee provided was two loose sachets of instant coffee etc) remain which did not seem to fit with the price (we paid approx 350 per night)

My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at Otters Holt, it's a lovely little cottage in a peaceful location. Not quite as secluded as the photos suggest, there's another lodge next door. We felt the property could have been cleaner (eg dirt on dishes, stains on curtains and blinds, showers a bit grubby). We also felt the hosts rules (eg strip your own beds before leaving, take rubbish out before leaving, switch lights off if not using them, don't adjust heating etc) were strict and a bit excessive, it did give the impression of being very tight with money at the cost of their customers. No toiletries provided and very cheap toilet roll etc. Would stress that these comments are relative to the price, I had higher expectations after paying nearly £700 for 2 nights BUT we did still really enjoy our trip and these things wouldn't necessarily put us off coming back. Really enjoyed the hot tub and beds were comfy.

Communication was excellent in the weeks before our arrival. We were offered discounts for local restaurants and amenities and given clear instructions on reaching the accommodation. The deck overhangs the river bank and on the first morning I watched a beaver casually swim by while I drank my morning tea. We could walk into the nearby Killin or drive to attractions further away. The entire stay was very relaxing. I put that down to location and everything being taken care of by the host before we arrived. Thanks to all the advice they gave us we had already booked the Red Deer Centre and planned a leisurely day walking to the Falls of Darroch and the nearby ruin of Finlarig Castle with its beheading pit and Judgement hill wher commoners were hanged. Great food advice too. If you’re thinking of staying you should definitely do it. 😎👍
