A beautiful escape home! Maureen was an attentive and responsive host. Wonderful experience from planning to leaving!
Die Aussicht, mit dem Meer rundherum aus dem Wintergarten raus, war einfach u glaublich! Danke für alles
We had such an amazing and relaxing few days as Maureen's guests. We could happily sit and watch the changing colours of the sea. Soul and body fully recharged after our stay. We'll be back - if Maureen will have us.
Five stars, two words: stay here! As a native of Ireland, I have seen much of that incredible island. The view from this Airbnb towards Achill Island, Blackrock Lighthouse, and the open sea is among the most spectacular views in all of Ireland. The house is as spectacular: modern, with liveable spaces, and everything needed. The locations is devine: literally beside a 6th C church ruins of St Deirbhile, at the end of the laneway a sandy, wild, Irish beach, remote and quiet, expect for the sounds of the rolling waves. Belmullet (we preferred the pronunciation Belmullé!) is a 20 minute drive away with all the needed shops and services. There are two Pubs a short drive or nice walk away. Una's by the Blacksod Lighthouse is definitely worth visiting. Not only for the incredible connection to D-Day but for the warm Irish welcome at the Pub. So warm that Una's opened up, just serve us, how wonderfully Irish is that?! (In the off-season and rural Ireland don't trust posted hours!)
Erris is officially the best place in Ireland to "go wild". Situated along the Wild Atlantic Way, I am based in Faulmore which is near the tip of the Mullet peninsula. Blacksod Lighthouse is nearby, being of a square block of a building with only a small conical lantern section at the top of it which is painted white.
Ionad Deirbhile visitors centre , Eachleim, is a few minutes away which holds a wealth of information and has a coffee shop. I am beside St. Derbhiles Pre-Norman church which if you go though the window three times you will never drown. A short distance away is St. Derbhiles well, which is a holy well, which is said to cure eye problems. A pilgrimage is held there every 15th August.
Across the beach in front of the house is a surfing school, the house is so handy for parents of students. They can stay and relax nearby as their children learn how to surf the waves! 💦💦💦🌞🌞🌞

A Car is needed to get to the house.
