Top of the Hill was terrific. Vickie was very thorough in her directions/instructions. The apartment had everything we could've possibly needed and was very comfortable. The location in So. Portland was great as well. Quick and easy access to downtown Portland with a plethora of great restaurant options. I hope I have the opportunity to stay here again!
Needed a place to stay while moving from out of state when my apartment wasn't ready yet. This place was perfect for me and my girlfriend stayed with me too. Had everything we needed. Comfortable for all aspects of the stay during the day and night.
Had a wonderful experience at this place. Clean, cozy and conveniently located. Vickie went above and beyond to welcome our stay during the 2024 Nor’easter!
Nice little appartment. Clean, cozy, quiet. Quiet neighbourhood. Easy parking. Easy and fast access to Portland, some beaches and to other Maine attractions. Walking distance to some stores and restaurants. I recommend.
We live in a classic New England neighborhood with a village like feel .As you drive past Red's Dairy Freeze you'll come up a substantial hill and spy a church steeple ,slow down because your turn on Hillside Avenue is coming up fast .
We are situated close to Portland 10 minutes away and the spectacular State Parks and beaches a short drive away .Two Lights State Park ,Crescent Beach State Park , Higgins Beach ,Scarborough Beach, and Ferry beach all within 20 minutes by car on Rt 77 .
Willard Beach less than a mile and Fort Williams a mile and a half away .Three light houses are pleasant walking distance .One if them being The Portland headlight at Fort Williams , the first lighthouse commissioned by George Washington in 1787 . Bug Light is part of the the Green Belt Walkway. Weather permitting there is a donation yoga class 6 pm weekdays and Sunday morning 10 am .The expansive green hosts Thursday night movies , Saturday Kites and one of the best views of the City of Portland and the shipping channel Fort Gorgeous , Peaks and Diamond Islands .In fact on a clear day you can see quite a distance down east .
Spring Point features another lighthouse and a long granite block breakwater that you can walk out to the light on.It is situated on the campus of Southern Maine Community College and also home to an old cemetery , very small, with stones from the 1500's , adjacent to Willard Beach. You could spend several hours walking all of these sights and pick up a snack on your way back to the hill at Willard Square , the excellent Scratch Bakery , ice cream at Willard Scoops or the many Cottage Road businesses .If you ready for dinner Get a table at David's 388 , I'm partial because it's excellent and oh , I work there ! For a snack or an adult beverage carry out I recommend Depetrio's just a 1/4 mile away .
Groceries at Hannaford or Shaws , CVS, Goodwill , Banks just down the hill in the Mill Creek area .A little further past Hannaford the Post office and City Hall is the best Mexican food in the area , Taco Trio , you can grab a beer or a Margarita there too .Keep going on down the street for antiques, coffee shops, restaurants and a small brewery and restaurant, Foulmouthed Quite good actually , little further takes you to the The bridge at Thomas Knight Park with some of the most spectacular sunsets in the Portland area .
Portland proper might be what drew you here, but SoPo will keep you coming back !
