I stayed one night and here is my opinion: Pros: good location, near the bus station and the main streets and restaurants. Easy check in and clean bedroom. Possibility of storing the luggage. Cons: the building is pretty old so it is noisy, you can hear the other guests and because I’m a light sleeper I couldn’t sleep well. The bathrooms need a deep cleaning so does the kitchen. I stayed in the last floor where there was no bathroom on the floor, so going down at night wasn’t the best but also not the worst thing. The last floor is actually a bit more private.
Great value and location, lots to do within walking distance. Bed and room were nice, and other guests were clean and mostly quiet in the evening.
The location is a good downtown area with easy parking and certainly comfortable for an overnight stay. There was an issue with another guest and due to the thinness of the walls, ended up being very invasive to the stay. Unfortunately received no response from the hosts. If you’re a heavy sleeper and just need a quick place to crash, this is a good spot.
The house is located in a fantastic downtown location, on South Union between College and Pearl. It is a popular spot for tourists and travelling professionals alike, thanks in part to the proximity of both the University of Vermont campus and medical center and The Church Street Marketplace. The house itself was built in 1899, and is located within the South Union Street Historic District, which has been recognized by the National Register of Historic Places for nearly 30 years. Colonial Revival, Greek Revival, and Late Victorian homes line the majority of the street, which is now home to busy professionals, families, and university students alike.
Walking: You can easily walk from the house to all of the shopping, dining, and local events both on and off the Church Street Marketplace. The University of Vermont campus and medical center are just up the hill and Lake Champlain and the bike path are at the bottom. The house is in the middle, making it walking distance to pretty much everything!
Shuttle: Walking down to the waterfront or up to UVM and the medical center takes about 15 minutes. If you would rather catch a lift, there is a free shuttle that travels up and down College Street from the waterfront to the University of Vermont Medical Center, with stops at the Church Street Marketplace, the city library, and the UVM campus along the way. The College Street Shuttle runs every 15 minutes and is just a couple blocks away from the house (under five minutes on foot). There are spots for two bikes on the shuttles which is especially nice after a long ride on the Burlington Bike Path!
Bus: The Burlington Transit Center is located at 45 Saint Paul Street, and is a 7 minute walk from the house. The Transit Center is the hub for Burlington’s city and regional commuter bus, the CCTA. Megabus, Vermont Translines, and Greyhound have stops here as well.
Rail: The Amtrak station is located at 29 Railroad Avenue in Essex Junction. The station is 18 minutes by car and is served by city bus (CCTA), Uber, and taxis.
Airport: The Burlington International Airport is located in South Burlington at 1200 Airport Drive. The airport is 10 minutes from the house by car and is served by city bus (CCTA), Uber, and taxis.
Uber works well here. If you haven’t used it before you can get your first ride free by using code: JENF1034UE
Local Cab: Green Cab is a popular one and can be scheduled in advance.
Local Car Rental: Majestic is a great local group in Burlington. If you want to get a car even for a few hours to head to the mountains or wherever, this is a good option!
