The Neighborhood:
The apartment is located in between 2 popular shopping/campus/night market circles - Shida and Gong Gwan. This neighborhood is full of amazing places to eat, and great variety, too, from all kinds of exotic foreign cuisines to Taiwanese deliciousness. And there are supermarket, morning fresh market, ATM, organic stores, parks, vegetarian buffets, bakery, Starbucks, amongst a bohemia of other cafes, live music and jazz bars, riverside running & biking trails, boutiques, art supplies stores, bookstores, and hipster hangouts all within 15 mins walk.

Getting Around:
Very convenient, the apartment is only 2 mins from MRT / Ubike Taipower station and Shida Rd. bus station. The public transportation system is very well developed in Taipei, between MRT/Ubike/Bus you can get to everywhere with an easy card at hand. It's easy to register for Ubike too (if you have a taiwanese sim card which you can get tourist packages on arrival at airport), instructions are at the terminals in English and Chinese.

With this place you're almost right in the center of everything in the city:
Taipei Main Station - 4 stops by MRT or 10 mins by taxi.
Shida University and night market - 5 mins walk
Taiwan University and Gong Gwan night market - 10 mins walk
CKS memorial hall - 2 stops
Xinyi/Taipei 101/Elephant mountain hiking trail - 20min by MRT or 15 min by taxi
GwangHwa computer & electronic market and HwaShan artist village - 2 stops
DaAn Park and weekend flower/jade market - 5mins by taxi or 15mins by Ubike.
Zhong Shiao/Dwen Hwa shopping district - 4 stops by MRT or 15mins by taxi

And with MRT Taipower Station at your doorstep, you can even go farther to Wulai or Beitou for hot spring and hiking, Tamsuei the old beach town to explore riverside and old-time Taiwan, take MaoKong gongdola to visit mountain tea houses, or a day hike in Yang Ming Mountain.
