Cast Away is located in the very remote, small village of Gromin Dolac in the south of the island of Hvar.  Our paradise is only accessible by a 4km dirt road that starts in Zavala.  You will have to park nearby along the road and walk the last 200m along a pathway towards Gromin Dolac’s main beach because there’s no access for cars.  There are also no signs, keeping in tune with the hidden, Cast Away beach vibe. This keeps out curious daytrippers and guarantees comfort and privacy. 
The access may be rather difficult, but therein lies the beauty of Cast Away. It is hard to find, but this is exactly what makes this place so unique and serene. Prepare yourself for a wonderful secluded location surrounded by nature, beautiful coves & beaches, walking & biking trails and an authentic Dalmatian lifestyle. Cast Away is the ultimate place to escape the busy, chaotic tourist crowds, and to reinvigorate yourself in a natural environment, with gorgeous views and the sound of the waves, sea birds, and an orchestra of crickets at twilight.  
THE ISLAND

Set between the famous cities of Dubrovnik & Split, it's not only Croatia's most famous & sunniest island but has the perfect location for numerous daytrips or to travel to 'must see' islands such as Korcula, Vis & Brac.
Towns on the island
Zavala
A small beach town, 4km away with restaurants, beach bars and a minimarket. Easy acces from Cast Away with our free shuttle at 10am in the morning (subject to availability) or by hike/paddle board/kayak/mountainbike if you feel adventurous.
 
Jelsa
Beautiful & cosy family town with nice restaurants, cocktail bars, ice cream shops, supermarkets, souvenir shops, etc. Jelsa is also the closest harbour for a boat from/to Bol, Makarska & Split (Only 1x / day !)
Starigrad 
The oldest town in Croatia with a plenty of history, pittoresk & narrow streets, nice restaurants, cocktail bars, souvenir shops, supermarkets, ice cream shops, etc.
 
Hvar town
Gorgeous, historic city with a sparkling culture and amazing nightlife.  Hvar city is the most famous city on the Croatia's islands with the famous Pakleni archipel, ideal for a daytrip by boat! Hvar is also famous for it's nightlife with several world-known beach clubs such as Carpe Diem Beach, Hula Hula &  the notorious Ultra Europe Beach Festival in July.
Hvar is a jetset destination with extravagant yachts, exquisite sea food & worldclass wines.
 
If you like really remote, authentic local places I would recommend some small villages inland such as Pitve, Vrisnik, Dol, Svirce, etc. Ivan Dolac & Sveta Nedelja are also very cosy and not so touristy. Sveta Nedelja has a cliff climbing area if you're into that!
Feel the real Dalmatia and explore those small villages, taste the homemade local wines, taste some fresh olive oil or fresh lavender... And don't forget the delicious home made Prosek!

HOW TO GET HERE
Free shuttle
The easiest way to get here is with our free shuttle. Cast Away offers a free shuttle every morning from/to Starigrad, Jelsa & Zavala. So the best is to take the ferry in Split at 08.30am and you will arrive in Stari Grad at 10.30am. Please do some groceries in Tommy's supermarket across the street. The shuttle bus will pick you up at 11.30am in front of Tommy's supermarket. The shuttle bus is a grey Opel Vivaro 9-seater.
If you come from Hvar city, you can take the bus to the ferry in Stari Grad (20 min - 33kn - NOT to Stari Grad town!) and do some groceries in Tommy's as well before being picked up at 11.30am.

Pick-ups/drop-offs in Starigrad town, Jelsa & Zavala are possible too.
Note that there are only public busses between Hvar, Starigrad & Jelsa.
Tip: If you don't need your car... leave it in Split or Starigrad and take our free shuttle.
Private shuttle
If you are not able to catch our free shuttle in the morning, don't worry. We also organize private transfers at the time & place of your choice. As our guest, you will enjoy better rates than anywhere else on the island. Contact us for more information :)
By car
Car ferries sail many times per day from Split to Stari Grad (2h) & from Drvenik to Sucuraj (35 min)

Jelsa: 25 minutes - 10km
Stari Grad: 35 minutes - 20km
Hvar town: 50 minutes - 35km
Sucuraj: 90 minutes - 72km
Rental car / scooter
If you prefer to rent a car or a scooter on the island, we can provide you one directly at your arrival with the ferry. This service is free of charge. The price per day for a scooter is around 200-250kn and for a car it starts from 320kn.
Catamarans / Seaplanes
There are high speed connections with catamarans (only passengers) from Split, Brac, Korcula, Vis, Mljet & Dubrovnik.  You can find all the prices & timetables with Jadrolinija & Krilo.
