CHECK-IN -Keyless Entry -Self Check-In *Please note there is no elevator on site, and this is a 2nd floor unit accessible by two flights of stairs (28 total) SORRY - NO SMOKING and NO PETS!!! Indian Rocks Beach is just a 10-minute ride on the beach trolley to John's Pass Village, a large marina, shopping and dining complex that offers a variety of water sports rentals, casino boats and dolphin-watching or sunset cruises. Ten minutes to the north, you'll find another marina and a variety of shops and restaurants at Clearwater Beach, also home to the Clearwater Aquarium. For a taste of city life, nearby downtown St. Petersburg, a 20-minute drive from the beach, is home to several world-class art museums, including the renowned Salvador Dali Museum, and popular attractions less than an hour's drive away include Busch Gardens, Adventure Island and the Florida Aquarium. For day trips, Orlando, Disney World and Sea World are a 90-minute drive and both the Tampa International Airport and the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport are within a 30-minute drive. Where to start! The positives, this place blew us away when we arrived! It is elegantly decorated with a nice open livingroom. It has the most breathtaking view! My family spent hours on the deck overlooking the gulf. We were thankful for the private access to the beach which kept our little area from being over crowded. There is also a very convenient shower at the bottom of the stair to wash the sand off before going in. The hosts request the ac not be put below 72 which I thought might be an issue because we keep it cold back home and even sleep with the ac on 66. But the ac unit kept everything nice and cool on 72. The ac did stop working over night on the 4th day of our stay and as you can imagine, it got up to 90 degrees. Thankfully, they had it fixed that evening. As it says in the description, the unit is upstairs so there is a two floor climb because of the elevated building. But the view more than makes up for that! There is also a seasonal ambient light restriction that didnt bother us a bit. There are sea turtle nests around the area. Also, as this is an attached unit, there are noise restrictions for when the washer and dryer can be used. This was a bit of a pain because we were usually out during the day and so had to carefully plan when to do laundry but again, not a terrible inconvenience. As for the negatives, we had a terrible experience with itrip, the company that the owners use to manage the property. The day before we checked in, we were contacted because the shower in the master bed was leaking into the unit below and had to be worked on during our stay. Kathy from itrip, was very polite and apologetic. She offered a full refund if we decided to cancel but we had already bought plan tickets and on such short notice could not find another place to stay that met our needs. Kathy said that we would be refunded three of days of our week long stay for the inconvenience. I asked her if the entire bathroom would be out of commission or just the shower. She called to find out and later called me back and said that the owner decided to completely remodel the bathroom and so they were waiting until we checked out to do so. She also mentioned they were having trouble finding someone to do the work because it was the week of the 4th of July. So we were able to use the sink and toilet but not the shower in the master bathroom. We decided to make it work with one shower and I asked Kathy to please get something in writing (because this was a phone convo) about the refund and she said she would. She never did. After checking into the unit, I would inquire about the refund but would never get a solid number in writing. I began conversing with Kevin, who was short and borderline rude with his responses. FINALLY, I was told I would be getting a check sent in the mail for half of what Kathy had promised. When I asked Kevin why it was less he said that what they were giving me was basically the same as what was promised. It was almost exactly half! So considering my entire week long stay, if given the chance to book this air bnb again I would NOT, unless the owners decided to part with itrip.net. Such a shame because we come down for a week every year and we really loved the property.
