Quiet neighborhood made it easy to sleep, nice garden with berries was fun, and it is a good location. Highly recommended for a low key stay.

Chris and Em were very welcoming and kind. The location was super close to downtown and uvic, which was really helpful. Everything was great!

Location was great - Victoria accessible by bus or cycling, but also good for travel by car to Butchart, Thetis lake, botanical beach and so on. Close by to shops, and supermarkets, in a quiet neighbourhood. Maleea was friendly and very quick to respond to questions. We rented the full house, which also gave us access to the deck at the back - lovely to see hummingbirds feeding off the wildflowers in the morning.

We recognize that this home has had many positive reviews and that is precisely why we chose to rent it. However, I am sorry to say that we had a very unusual experience. We reserved this home for three nights of our 12-day vacation in BC. It is a very cozy home. However, when we arrived it was extremely hot inside, as it was a very warm day (83 degrees) and the house had been closed up for 5 hours, according to a message from the host. We opened all the windows to get some air circulating. Soon, we noticed mosquitoes were coming in, so we closed the windows because there were no screens, which made the house unbearably hot. The host discounted our concerns and stated that screens are unnecessary because of how few mosquitoes there are in Victoria and as Californians, we "may be used to something different". I sat down on the bed and noticed a bit of dog hair. No big deal, I thought. We love dogs and had them for years. But when I pulled back the sheets, they were covered in hair. Believe me, after 15 years and two dogs, I recognize dog hair. The host intimated that I might be confusing it with "lint from the dryer". Also, there was a strong smell in the house that was very much an animal odor. Certainly, the house being closed up on an 83 degree day exacerbated it. The host stated that perhaps we were smelling the "fireplace insert ashes." The host generously offered the edibles from her garden which was most generous and certainly not part of the rental amenities. However, because there was so little available in the garden, we did not want to strip it of what it had left, which I mentioned to the host, certainly not meaning to offend her. She was "insulted" and hinted that we may "not recognize" the vegetables in their "native environment". Funny. We have had a certified organic culinary and medicinal garden for years. After considering all of the above, we decided to call taxi and get a motel. After I emailed the host and explained the issues, she was offended and said that our reaction to her place must have its "root elsewhere". Why would we go to the trouble and expense when all we were hoping for is a lovely experience like the other guests had experienced.

Our experience was really positive! The house is delightful, clean & inviting, and the garden is lovely. We were very comfortable and really enjoyed our stay. The location makes it easy to get to anywhere we wanted to go. Emaleea was helpful and cheerful; all our communication was via email, but she was available if we were to need her. I highly recommend it!
