All went smoothly! A no-frills but very comfortable old house on a rather busy road but with a lovely view into a quiet garden. Some might find the bathroom rather tight or the place on the damp side, but it is cosy and comfortable. If you need a hot breakfast for a slight extra fee, just ask. All in all, a cool place to which I would return.

On the positive note - the location is easy to find, the house is historic (if you fancy that) and you can have home-made dinner served in the living/dining room at a very reasonable price. The rooms are spacious and even though in a circular planning, you can avoid walking through other bedroom if you choose to take the longer way (e.g. on your way to kitchen or toilet). On less positive note - the "historic" describes also well the quality of interior. You can see that there have been attempts to refurbish bits here and there - but whether the ambition or quality has been modest, or wear and tear has made it's work - it is rather basic. The location is next to market and supermarket - all the cars leaving the parking lot will have their headlights in your window. It is also max 2m from a highway so there will be some noise. I was with kids during winter. The communal rooms (yes, there are those - while description says "the whole house", then actually there is another family living in the other wing of the house) are not heated, the floors are cold and so were the rooms. The oil radiators are not up to the work to heat it up, on the second night our landlord refused to light up the oven and recommended to dry the wet skiing apparel next to the stove (that was cold by our arrival in the evening). She stopped replying to our messages so we were on our own. On the first night we were left without hot water (1,5 of us got to take shower), in the morning the situation was the same - so the rest of us did not get any shower and we brushed teeth using cold water. It seems that unplugging the boiler for hot water is a standard in that household and we should have known that on our own. The toilet pipe was leaking so whatever you put in the toilet leaked out on the floor... yes. Landlord refused to comment. I was surprised that the local housekeeper did not wear a mask (with covid figure per 100'000 approaching 1000, one of the highest in the world at the moment). Some more minor things (like some of the utensils being dirty). In conclusion, the photos left a charming image of a rural historic building and interior, the reality was much less pleasing. I'm happy that noone of us got cold due to the conditions with heating. I did not find the price and quality in balance at all.

A cozy stay in a house with its own history. Thoughtful organization of the space to balance vintage details & atmosphere with amenities expected today. Appreciate the housekeeper for welcoming and taking care for us. Recommended!
