We made arrangements with Itmi (the main listed host) to rent this house, along with two other houses for one night. We paid for all houses and breakfasts way in advance (and paid for all airbnb extra fees when transferring money). As the group leader (and also as an Airbnb host myself) it was my responsibility to ensure the entire group's satisfaction. There was a miscommunication issue regarding passports. Please note that you will be required to bring physical passports upon check-in (or you will be turned away!). As a matter of fact, the main house owner kept hinting that they would not be able to resolve the passport issue, and that we would have to leave. After a few hours of waiting, I suggested that we not wait any longer and that we should look for alternative lodging, to which she responded "you can leave, but I will not give you any money back because this was your fault." As an airbnb host, I know how things work, and I know what customer service feels like. This is universal. At the second house. after the passport situation was resolved, the owner said "if it would've been up to me, I would've sent all of you away immediately!" Also, upon arrival to the other 2 houses, our guests were told by the other house owners that we hadnt pre-paid for breakfast (which we had!) and that the other house owners were not aware of how many people they were supposed to house. This created chaos within our group and an overall feeling of being "unwanted" and not welcomed. It is a shame because these were such BEAUTIFUL houses with so much potential. The conclusion is - it depends on your priorities. In my opinion, I'd rather have a less pretty house, but feel the warmth of being welcome. I am sure that this situation was out of the ordinary - and I recommend staying at this place with smaller groups. Perhaps that would make it more manageable.
