John and Helen were amazing hosts. The castle was obviously a labor of love for them to restore following John’s father’s/Helen’s husband’s initial work on it. The design is so unique, mixing the old-world with modern amenities. All was clean, spacious and perfect for the weekend stay in Kilkenny. Depending on your mood, you could stay there all day and relax or use it as a place to come and go. It’s very private with farmland surrounding the castle, but the hosts are only a quick text or call away if you have any questions. They were so gracious to us and our family had a wonderful time going back into medieval times. As it was a holiday weekend, the hosts even left us some treats. Highly recommend for a truly unique experience while exploring Ireland.

What a magical experience! The castle is just phenomenal. John did a spectacular job restoring this crown jewel of Ireland. Our family paid board games every night and it was a nice way to reconnect without media. It’s not too often that happens these days. A full functioning kitchen was the perfect touch for completing family dinners instead of having to eat out. John was accommodating and responsive. His mother Helen popped by to say hello and what an amazing person she is. Everyone back home is so jealous of our experience and are already looking into renting the vasto in the future. Thank you so much for all of your hospitality!
