Aldbourne · 农家仓房 · 2室3床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Beautifully Restored Grade 2 listed Historic Barn
Alma Barn is one of the oldest buildings in Aldbourne and is a Grade II listed building of particular historical interest. Our barn has been carefully converted to sleep four in twin and kingsize double bedrooms. It's a quirky place to stay! The comfortable accommodation is open plan, with views onto the downs beyond and a few minutes walk into the centre of Aldbourne, an attractive village with pubs and shops. The spacious interior leads onto a private terrace and path to off-road parking. A blend of restored original features, and a carefully designed interior make this barn a really unusual and fun place to stay! As you walk in you'll be surprised by height of the ceiling and the light playing through the funky lampshades... you'll see that downstairs Alma Barn is open plan incorporating a living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen with a separate bathroom. Upstairs there are two mezzanine bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two twin beds. Lying in bed you'll get an amazing view of the incredible oak barn rafters and wind brace structure... enjoy the integrated Lutron light system with various settings, allowing you to regulate the mood. For the chillier times of the year, the Barn is kept lovely and warm by discrete underfloor heating which runs throughout. Sheep often graze in the paddock adjoining the Barn, carefully watched by the red kites soaring above them - you can sit and watch from your own immediately accessible private terrace, ideal for that early morning coffee and croissant available from the excellent delicatessen in the village.
Alma Barn is a short walk from the centre of the bustling village with a post office and cafe and delicatessen, a convenience store, a takeway and two excellent pubs. The village green, overlooked by a magnificent church dating from the 12th century, is the heart of the village.
Aldbourne is famous for hosting the American Army, 'The Band of Brothers' during WWII, who were billeted in the village prior to the D-day landings. It is also famous as a location for an early Dr Who series! Every year we host a 'Dr Who' day with people coming from far and wide!
There are regular bus services from Aldbourne to Swindon, Marlborough and Hungerford; and train stations in Hungerford (a 20 minute drive away) and Swindon (30 minutes away).
Aldbourne is ideally located to plan your visits to Stonehenge, Bath, Oxford and Salisbury, whilst London is an hour by train from Swindon.
