It’s a nice enough house if a bit rough around the edges compared to how it looks in the pictures. The kitchen and living areas are good and there’s a good amount of rugged outdoor space. The bathroom is also big and spacious and has a good shower and large bath. The main weird thing is that the bedrooms are all accessed via the bathroom, so if someone needs to shower or use the loo, then anyone else in the house is isolated to either a bedroom or the living spaces until they’re done, unless they’d like to walk around the outside of the house. But then there’s also no curtains in the main bedroom so they’d be walking past whoever is left in the main room. Which means no-one could move without shouting out to everyone else to establish exactly where everyone is going to be. It was a tad odd and did make it challenging to have two couples there.

We enjoyed a nice stay at Kererū. Probably quite important to be aware of the layout in advance (which is odd to say the least). Internal access to the bedrooms is through the bathroom/wetroom only, which has no locks and no door on the bedroom end, only a curtain. If your party values bathroom privacy, this probably isn’t the place for you. The access and internal steps are quite precarious and not suitable for young ones or the elderly either. Beyond this, the property is lovely and peaceful and in a really handy location. Enjoyed plenty of time outside on the deck which is well set up with seating. Great kitchen and well equipped.

Great place, clean and tidy and great location. As per other reviews, the layout is quirky, but fine if you’re just a couple staying. Only downside is there are no blinds or curtains in the master bedroom so absolutely no privacy and you’ll wake up early with the light coming in. Otherwise, the place is comfortable and we enjoyed it.

Great location and within walking distance to the beach. Super clean, well appointed with a great deck and kitchen to enjoy the summer evenings. Has a quirky layout but works as part of its charm.
