Casa da Encosta - Hillside cabin near the sea

Casa da Encosta is located in the picturesque Aldeia do Penedo, on the hills of Sintra facing the Atlantic. The nearby beaches (Adraga, Praia Grande, Praia das Maçãs and others) are just 5 km away. This two bedroom house (plus a mezzanine) dates from the 1930’s and was passionately renovated in 2023 by Katrin Kaasa and Duarte Amaral Netto, your hosts. The house maintains the spirit of a cabin (low ceiling in the kitchen and some doors) but was carefully designed for comfort and stylish details.

Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Our 2 tiny houses are in the midst of agricultural landscapes on a horse farm 400 meters from one of the best surf beaches around. The container unit is private only for you. Its entrance is via the the sunroom. This sunroom, as well as laundry space, garden and backoffice / storage space is shared with the other unit (2pax) Our local community also offers a small local beach bar, a pizza place and a micro brewery & hamburger restaurant.

 Originally traditional fishermen’s homes, the casitas have been carefully rebuilt to combine their original charm with contemporary design, including open layouts, micro-cement floors and ceilings up to 5 meters high. A calm, stylish space designed for a relaxed coastal stay.

Tucked away in the quiet neighborhood of old Sintra is our little house of vines. With original finishes from the 1890s and views of the Moorish castle from the bedroom’s south-facing balcony, you’ll be immersed in Sintra's idyllic village. Centrally located, we’re just around the corner from some of the best restaurants and cafes in town, and only a 3 minute walk from the train station to Lisbon. There is also free parking on the street in front of the house.

Tucked between forest and ocean in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, this peaceful studio is part of our small, family-run guesthouse in Almoçageme. It’s designed for relaxed, nature-focused stays, with a private terrace, outdoor dining area, and a wood-burning stove for cooler months. We live on-site with our young family, so this is not a hotel environment but a lived-in, welcoming space in the heart of a region steeped in natural and cultural heritage.

It's also a 15-minute walk from the train station. Free Street Parking available 160 meters away.
