Welcome to cozy Kalkoen (that’s “turkey” in Dutch :) cabin in Virginia's Blue Ridge. Our cabin sits within a 10-mile radius of Virginia’s 5 highest peaks, all over 5000 ft, 6 miles from Elk Garden and Gox creek trailheads (AT). Enjoy hiking, biking, flyfishing, horseback riding nearby, or watching the wild ponies. Kick back by the stove on a chilly night, or take your favorite book on the deck, waiting for sunset...you'll be right at home. If you are a nature lover, you can find peace here.

Great mountain view! Dongola Cabin

Up on the Laurel’s Dongola Cabin is a secluded, compact 384 square foot cabin designed to be a place for recreating, writing, relaxing and star-gazing. It sits on the south side of Iron Mountain in the Jefferson National Forest’s Mount Rogers National Recreation Area and takes in the scenic views of Whitetop Mountain and Mount Rogers. Its proximity to sites and towns of middle Appalachia, along with its fresh water, fresh air and relaxed pace make our cabin a lovely spot to visit.

You can purchase beef, pork, and chicken to cook while you’re here or bring a cooler and take some home.
