HAKU is a Japanese Style Villa. You can enjoy your private time as in your home. “HAKU“ is one of the readings of the character “百” which means “hundred”. Medieval Haiku poet, Basho Matsuo likened eternal passage of time to "百代の過客", a permanent traveller. In his time, a hundred years was expressed as eternal. HAKU was originally built as a farmer’s shed about a hundred years ago. It was recently relocated and renovated for another hundred years. HAKU will welcome you as traveling companions.

Kusa no Niwa | 100-Year Machiya Lodge in Takayama

Kusa no Niwa is a traditional Japanese-style house with a courtyard and corridors that was built more than 130 years ago. The entire house with a size of 100 square meters will be lent privately to a single group with a maximum capacity of 6 persons. You will find a fusuma, a sliding door with a paper panel, painted by a famous Japanese Painter, which can be also found in the Taue’s House, an Important Cultural Property, located in Nyukawa Town.

Autumn Takayama Festival is held on October 9th and 10th every year. My house is located in the center of autumn Takayama festival venue. The highlights of festival called YOIMATSURI(宵祭) is started just in front of my house. If you stay my house in this festival, you can enjoy the festival all day, from morning to night!! KURA is Japanese traditional building. We renovated it to stay. You can stay here only one group a day.

A private 100-year-old townhouse in front of a quiet shrine. The first floor features a living, dining, and kitchen space with natural wood flooring and plaster walls. Upstairs are three connected tatami rooms. Located on a peaceful hill, just a 5-min walk to the old town. Surrounded by temples and greenery. Please keep quiet at night as it’s a residential area.

伝統的な日本式の古民家と大正ロマン、昭和レトロを思わせる洋館を併せ持つ家屋です。造営100年を超える小さいながらも凛とした日本庭園が、皆さまをお迎えする1棟貸し切りの宿「大前家」です。 高山盆地の東に位置する寺院群の一画に、当宿「大前家」が建てられています。 道路より正面の苔むす石積みに沿って階段を上がると突き出した松の木が出迎え得くれます。格子戸を開けると右には、造営100年を超えると思われる日本庭園が望めます。玄関に入り、畳敷の廊下よりリビングに入ると、そこからは日本庭園が開放的に眺められます。さらに廊下を進むと茶室があり、そこから座って観る日本庭園は、小規模ながらも趣を感じさせられます。
