With its own beachside garden and breathtaking uninterrupted views of the wildest of Essex creeks and marshes, the cottage is only to be reached on foot atop a sea wall. The perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The last in a row of westerly facing cottages, perfect to watch the evening sun go down . From the front garden or even laying in bed, watch the tide slip in and out, the fishing boats come and go and live, for a while, in a world moving at a slower pace.

Our cute & cosy cottage in the ever-popular getaway fishing village of Wivenhoe awaits you! Perfectly situated to enjoy the delights of nearby Colchester ('Britain's Oldest Recorded Town), Dedham Vale (Constable Country), Mersea Island or to just take in the sights and sounds of our picturesque little hamlet. Recently refurbished & tastefully redecorated, the Secret Cottage showcases critically acclaimed artwork from local artists depicting the hamlet of Wivenhoe, both past & present.

The Cottage is at the end of a pretty tree-lined drive set in the 12 acre grounds of Street Farm. It is a beautiful setting with water meadow and streams, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife. The cottage is detached and well away from the farmhouse making it a wonderfully peaceful and secluded place to relax. There are many footpaths to explore straight from the Cottage, with both the River Deben and Newbourne Springs Nature Reserve in easy walking distance.

This beautifully restored period cottage offers luxury boutique accommodation, is centrally located within the village and within easy walking distance to numerous pubs, eateries and specialty shops. Lavenham is considered to be England's most well-preserved medieval town. With its winding streets, timber-framed buildings and quaint cottages, it is also Suffolk's prettiest wool town and is ideally located to explore the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

Cosy barn in beautiful rural setting

Bradleys Barn is a converted stable situated on the farm which has been in our family for 120 years. It’s last inhabitants were Dapper, a Clydesdale and Prince, a Suffolk Punch, in the 1940s. We hope you enjoy your stay here and please explore our woodland walks looking out for buzzards, deer, brown hares and kites. We are located on the Essex Way as you will see on the map in the hallway. This is very good for walking and mountain biking.

Riverside gem with a nautical past

In the heart of lower Wivenhoe on the quay, our little self-contained cottage was once part of the home of The Colne Marine and Yacht Company. Its thick brick walls and quiet and pretty disposition, defy its former role as a working yard where timber yachts were crafted and repaired, drawn up inside at high tide. Emma and Charlie welcome guests back time after time to relax and enjoy this very special place. We hope you will join them.

There are over 80 acres of gardens/countryside and a 3km woodland trail for you to explore. Located on the rural Essex / Suffolk border, we are just 3 miles from Colchester the oldest recorded town in Britain.

Our house is uniquely situated on a quiet 750 acre bird reserve with walks beside tidal creeks, a close shingle/sand beach or even across fields. The house is situated so enable you to see the sunrise and sunset. The house has all that you need as a family, group of friends or a couple for a restful stay away from the hustle and bustle of life to recharge your batteries and enjoy nature at its best!
