PRIVATE ECO ESTATE: CENTRAL DRAKENSBERG Recently purchased and fully renovated - Grassroots is ready to welcome you! We have designed the house with our guests' happiness at heart. The house is in the exclusive private eco estate - Cathkin Estate, bordering the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. The estate exceeds 1,000 hectares, with an abundance of free roaming wildlife (zebra, eland, wildebeest, oribi etc) and a host of birds and flora. A dreamy location for any nature lover!

Mafube Mountain Retreat Garden Unit near Clarens

Mafube Mountain Retreat is a secluded guest farm about 25 minutes from Clarens and is a hikers and nature lover's paradise! It is situated in a stunning amphitheater of sandstone mountains, is child friendly and has very well defined Dinosaur footprints a short hike from the chalets. The Garden unit is a small self catering unit with one bedroom and which has space for two children sleeping in the lounge area. It is surrounded by a wilderness area and with breathtaking views from every window.

Amazing Mountain Views - Peaceful Close to Village

Wake to stunning mountain views from bed at Gentle Presence Cottages! This Cottage offers self-catering for 6 and has been lovingly decorated using a mixture of antiques and modern furnishings to make guests feel right at home. Built in the 1900’s as stables, this Cottage is one of the oldest buildings in Clarens and it's thought that farmers would arrive by ox-wagon before sharing Nagmaal (Holy Communion). There are 2 Cottages on the premises, set apart and with own entrances for privacy.

Loft Room @ Craigrossie

The Loft Room@Craigrossie is a self-catering space for two on Craigrossie Game Farm, 8 km (3kms on good gravel road) outside of Clarens towards Golden Gate. The self-contained space has a loft room with views over the dams & mountains, a queen bed with 100% cotton bedding, bathroom and a kitchenette downstairs. A borehole supplies water. DSTV, WiFi, tea, coffee & kitchen essentials (spices & olive oil) are provided. Bring your own rod for catch & release trout fishing (daily rod fees apply).

Four Good Seasons

A stunning house filled with bright, natural light. River frontage and valley and mountain views. Two sitting rooms, both with DSTV so you can have sport and cooking on at the same time! Only 6 minutes drive from The Clarens Square and 26 restaurants, yet you can unwind completely in the peacefulness of the wind and sunshine. Lovely walks. Electric blankets and wood burning fires , fully equipped kitchen, 4.5 bathrooms for 6 bedrooms including one with 4 bunk beds. It's huge but homely.

Inkunzi Cave - A Unique African experience.

Situated in one of the safest, crime-free areas of SA, with tar roads all the way, is INKUNZI CAVE. A totally unique, owner built unit with a Bushman theme. 1 bedroom only with double bed. Single bed in lounge . An amazing "rock" bath and separate shower. Overlooks a beautiful rock pool. Very private. 2 other cheaper units on the property are listed separately: THE ZULU HUT, and DIDDLY SQUAT. All have stunning mountain views, are comfortable and fully equipped for self catering.

Waterfall River Lodge

This is a unique, comfortable, fully kitted, self-catering house sleeping 8/10 people. Hidden in a quiet corner of our working farm it overlooks a pristine section of the Wilge River, with the famous waterfall and Nelson's Kop mountain providing spectacular scenery. Guests will be able to enjoy absolute peace, uninterrupted views and walks in almost every direction. Please note that the property is remote and the last 200m of the access road will require a high clearance vehicle.

Aloe house Snowdon accommodation

The Aloe house is a completely solar powered house which will not be affected by the load shedding whatsoever. You have a spectacular view of the Malungane mountain from every room of the house with its ceiling to floor glass sliding doors. their is a large fire place in the main living room to make fires during those crisp winter nights. in winter the cows calve right outside the house which can be a great insight into the farm life. sunsets over the entire Drakensberg range.

Peach Trees Cottage Clarens

A beautiful cottage surrounded by peach trees and mountains - is situated in a secluded corner of Clarens, Free State, South Africa. Peach Trees offers accommodation for two people in quiet surroundings, amazing views, while being close to the village centre. The cottage has a gas hob, under counter fridge, and ample space for cooking and braaing and a wood burning fireplace. There is a desk and free WIFI for those who may need to work or connect while away from home.

Llandaff Summer House

Llandaff House Van Reenen is 4 bedroom California style house built in 1950's. Perched on the edge of the escarpment with a fabulous view. Laze for days in front of the massive fireplace, or venture out and explore one of the 3 gorges. Start your holiday here on route to the coast or meet friends mid-way from JHB & Durban for a getaway or celebration, or a wedding at the little church just up the road. We also have 3 cottages, Woodlands and The Barn and The Old Barn.

Our house is close to the Central Drakensberg and 5km outside of Winterton. You’ll love panoramic view of the Drakensberg. A fireplace and an entertainment area with a pool and table tennis table. Patio with braai facilities. A pool and deck. There is walk to the dam or river on the property. 3 garages. Our house is good for couples, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.
