Enjoy morning coffee on the leafy garden patio of this vibrant, Creole-style cottage nestled on a shady corner lot. Prep a meal within the funky-modern confines of the kitchen or wander the colorful interiors until you find a sunny spot on the couch. If you prefer to sleep in while on vacation, feel free to close all the wooden shutters to form a comfortable, dark cocoon in the bedroom and pretend like the rest of the world has stopped while you relax. When you are ready to get out and about, venture outside to explore the unique architecture of the Bywater and visit local dives and hangouts! This guest house is a creole-style cottage adjacent to a traditional shotgun (occupied by the host) on a shady corner lot in the Bywater Historic District. Originally built in the 1800s, renovated in 2007, and completely refreshed in 2017, guests will enjoy full, private access to this 600+ square foot, 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage with a fully appointed kitchen. There is a queen bed in the bedroom plus a West Elm modular couch in the living room that comfortably sleeps one adult. Extra linens and pillows are provided. Flat-screen TV with DirecTV and DVD player. Washer/dryer in unit with supplies. Freshly-squeezed grapefruit and satsuma juice from trees in the courtyard, when in season (October - February)! Guests may feel welcome to sit in the courtyard, with a private patio just outside the living room door. We live on-site, and the door to our home is just across the courtyard from the living room or at the deck by your entry door. Should you need anything, we’re happy to be at your service. Otherwise, we'll leave you to the quiet enjoyment of the space and to enjoy your travels. The guest house is situated in the Bywater Historic District, a Creole neighborhood mostly known for its brightly colored architecture and creative community members. The neighborhood boasts easy access to dining and entertainment, and a number of hotspots are nearby including one of the city’s best brunches, a nano-brewery, and a wine bar with live courtyard jazz multiple times a day! The Crescent Park trail along the river is two blocks away and is a nice gateway to the French Quarter. The Crescent Park trail along the Mississippi Riverfront is two blocks from the house and offers easy bike/pedestrian/wheelchair access to the French Market (about 1.5 miles) along with the rest of the French Quarter beyond (Jackson Square is about 2 miles from the house). Multiple bus routes are within 2-4 blocks of the house, including Bus Route 5 two blocks away that takes you to the Quarter. The Rampart-St. Claude Streetcar Route is approximately 1.6 miles away at the intersection of St. Claude and Elysian Fields. Several local businesses offer scooter and bike rentals within a couple miles of the house, and a bike share station (Blue Bikes NOLA) is located around the corner. Uber/Lyft/rideshares are readily available, typically in 5 minutes or less at most times of day, and cost around $7-$12 to the French Quarter/CBD (or Central Business District as we in New Orleans call our downtown), depending upon traffic, time of day, exact dropoff location, etc. If you are driving your own vehicle, apps like "Spothero" will help you find and compare options for private or paid parking lots and spaces at your destination. On-street parking is typically pretty easy to find and no permit is required/no time restrictions exist. J&J's Sports Bar is across the street. While it can be great for watching a game close-by or for a night cap before you hit the sack, depending upon the day, it can also create conversation noise into the wee hours. Cab fare from airport $36 for one or two people, Airport shuttle $22 each way. Uber and Lyft available to and from airport. Wireless printer and internet in unit. Nespresso coffee maker with pods as well as drip coffee maker.

Very walkable up and down Magazine St and throughout the neighborhood, very easy Uber ride to anywhere in the City. Also very bike friendly...BYOBike ;-) Street parking is free and readily available.
