Houtong literally means "monkey cave", and in fact the whole town is full of... lazy cats. The locals had this idea to attract tourists, and if you like cats, that's the place to go... However the real fascination of this town is due to it's mining past. There is a mine museum, and the relics of old tracks, and huge monstrous machinery lay there abandoned, creating a surreal sight.
