Visit the Green Market, an indoor/outdoor labrynth of stalls selling everything from food to hand-knit woolen mittens and even replicas of designer bags. Good place to buy Kazakh souvenirs!

The Green Bazaar, or Zelionyy Bazar, is a place you really should visit when visiting Almaty. This market is central to the every day life of the local people and it is so called the ‘Green Bazar, or market, because in the past it was the traditional place to buy and sell local produce like vegetables. The green bazaar, or rather its then prototype, appeared on the current site more than a hundred years ago, and since then it has remained an important trade point of the whole of Almaty.
