The Portland Art Museum is the oldest museum in the Pacific Northwest, founded in 1892. It has since amassed a substantial and varied collection. The number of items exceeds 50,000, and only a small portion is displayed in more than 112,000 square feet of gallery space. Highlights include Native American artifacts, graphic arts, English silver, Asian art, photography, and Northwest art. Features outstanding permanent exhibitions of Asian art, Native American art, Northwest art, European and American art. The temporary exhibitions are always a huge hit, too. Located on Portland's West side, in the "Park Blocks", easily accessed by public transport and walkable to food, other activities and attractions.
