The Leipzig Zoo is a 26-hectare (including 2.1 hectare water surface) park-like zoological garden on the Rosental , northwest of Leipzig city center. It is one of the most biodiverse zoos in Europe. Since 2000, the zoo has been extensively rebuilt and expanded under the project name "Zoo of the Future". By 2022, a conversion in individual subject areas should take place.
