西本愿寺位于日本京都府京都市下京区，正式名称为龙谷山本愿寺。本愿寺是净土真宗最大教派，为亲鸾所创，最初为1272年（文永9年）所建大谷本愿寺，后经历多次战乱迁徙，1591年（天正19年）第11任门主显如得到关白丰臣秀吉支持，迁至现址。1602年前继承人教如得到大名德川家康支持脱离教团，在本寺东侧另创真宗本庙，形成东西对立局面。当地人因此习惯将龙谷本愿寺称为“西寺”，久之通称为西本愿寺。中国台湾和上海亦有西本愿寺。中文名西本愿寺地址下京区掘川通花屋街交通自四条堀川搭市巴士
