Ft Macon is a state park on the eastern end of Atlantic Beach with free parking and multiple access points to lifeguard protected beaches. There is a convenient ramp located in the middle of the park for overloaded beach buggies and bathrooms as needed. Ft Macon also is a historic military fort from the 1800's with interesting exhibits about life at the fort, and during the summer they fire cannons at 4pm. While the history is interesting, the beach is pristine and easily accessible for everyone.
