Michelin bin 22.This spot is indeed hidden in the thick of bustling Wynwood. The steel front door is not easy to find and it only slides open with a time-sensitive passcode, but beyond the mysterious proceedings, a rewarding experience awaits for just a few fortunate guests at this eight-seat counter. Chef Shingo Akikuni sticks to tradition, sourcing most of his product from Japan and adorning his nigiri with little more than a dab of nikiri. Beautiful slabs of tuna, sweet botan ebi and generous portions of uni are highlights in a tasting menu that never feels stuffy or overly reverent—thanks in part to an upbeat and funky playlist. At the end, diners may return to the bustling crowds, except this time wondering if anyone around them knows what they’ve missed.

This aptly named omakase-style restaurant is literally “hidden” behind a taco shop in Wynwood. Once guests enter with a numeric code (provided when the reservation is made) they encounter an intimate, eight-seat restaurant serving up a 18 dish menu featuring small Japanese appetizers, sashimi, and nigiri, all made with seasonal ingredients brought in from Japan, paired with sake, Sochu beer and wine to wash it down with. Make sure to reserve early as seats book out months in advance.
