Monjayaki/Monja is a Japanese pan-fried batter with various ingredients similar to okonomiyaki but monja, a specialty of the Kantō region, is more moist. Many Monja shops are along this famous street.

Monja Street is centered on Tsukishima's commercial Nishi-Nakadori Ave. About 70 monjayaki restaurants are in fierce competition to create unique flavors with their monja (a kind of savory pancake featuring cabbage and various fillings). The Tsukishima Monja Association (open year-round, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) offers special maps and gifts.
