Legion of Honor
The Legion of Honour, San Francisco's most beautiful museum, displays an impressive collection of 4,000 years of ancient and European art in an unforgettable setting with dramatic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Pacific Ocean. The Legion’s rich collection, approximately 250 paintings on view…
Amazing museum full of historical art, sculptures, statues, and all sorts of amazing things. This is a big museum and will take several hours to see everything. Its one of my favorites since I learned art history here.
4,000 years of ancient & European art in a beaux arts building overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.
If you are into art like me that there is always some exhibit, also ask around your ticket might be good for the De Young Museum
“The de Young often features traveling exhibits from all over the world. It's in a fantastic modernist building which has a tower that you can go up (free of charge) for a great view of Golden Gate Park and the surrounding city.”
“What to say? One of the great parks of the United States. Just head down the hill to Kezar Stadium (at the very bottom of Willard Street) and you'll see the GGP right beyond it (walk around Kezar to the west to enter the park). You can also enter on Stanyan and Haight (and at many other points). Enjoy the Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake, the Conservatory of Flowers (great night time light shows in the summer and winter) and many, many other features of the park.”
“The world’s only aquarium-planetarium-rainforest-living museum. Come nose-to-beak with penguins and parrots, watch sharks and sting rays cruise beneath your feet, and feel the spray of the California coast. Fly to Mars (and beyond the Milky Way!) from the safety of your planetarium seat, take a virtual safari in African Hall, or climb into the canopy of a living rainforest. Face your fears—and an albino alligator—inside the Swamp, and meet scientists as they return from research expeditions around the world. From the depths of a Philippine coral reef to the outer reaches of the Universe, it's all inside the California Academy of Sciences.”
“Great place for viewing the Golden Gate Bridge! It is quiet and usually not crowded. ”
