This is among the most prominent temples in Chennai, with distinctive architecture, and a part of "Old Madras". While visiting this temple, one ought to go to St. Thomas's Church, and the Marina Beach, and possibly get on top of the Lighthouse for a panoramic view of both the city and the Bay of Bengal.

Built around 7th century in resplendent Dravidian Architecture! You must not miss the Eastern Gate or Gopuram which is around 40 m high covered with 1500 idols of ancient Indian legend!

Kapaleeswarar (Siva) Temple is one of the three oldest temples in Chennai, alongside Sri Parthasarathy & Marundeeswarar. Worth a look for the heritage alone.

Centuries old Shiva Temple at Mylapore is a place for devotion and to witness the ancient stone works on the magnificent Gopuras. Visit the shops around the temple to purchase Indian art works and have a nice hot filter coffee.
