Great seafood, enormous seafood platters. Best to book, otherwise you might have to queue to get in on a weekend. Very casual and relaxed outdoor eating. Parking can be difficult on the weekends. You can go by bus the 399 will get you there in 10 minutes. Catch it across the road on the ocean side.

La Perouse was named after the French navigator Jean-François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse (1741–88), who landed on the northern shore of Botany Bay west of Bare Island on 26 January 1788. Captain Arthur Phillip and the first fleet of convicts had arrived in Botany Bay a few days earlier. Louis XVI of France had commissioned Lapérouse to explore the Pacific.[2] In April 1770 James Cook's expedition had sailed onto the east coast of Australia whilst exploring the south Pacific searching for Terra Australis or ‘Land of the South’. Upon King Louis XVI's orders, Lapérouse departed Brest, France, in command of Astrolabe and Boussole on 1 August 1785 on a scientific voyage of the Pacific inspired by the voyages of Cook. La Perouse in Sydney's south is named after the leader of this French expedition.

The Coast Hospital at Little Bay, on the ocean side of the La Perouse peninsula, was commissioned on the 6th December, 1881 and operated initially as a sanitation camp for healthy contacts of smallpox patients who were nursed across the harbour at Quarantine Station on North Head.
This hospital has the distinction of being the first public hospital in NSW, earlier hospitals such as the Rum Hospital being run by charities. In 1934 the Coast Hospital became the Prince Henry Hospital to honour the visit of Prince Henry, third son of King George.
The Nursing and Medical Museum showcases the hospital through the eras of change. There are displays of surgical instruments, a large collection of photographs and a comprehension range of uniforms for nurses, doctors, domestic, and past catering staff.
The library features books used by nurses and doctors dating back to the early 1900s.
The Nurses War Memorial Chapel built by the Prince Henry Hospital Trained Nurses Association in 1967 is located on the site and dedicated to the nurses of both world wars.
