Dimond Park
Great park for kids and there is a little nature trail along Sausal Creek.
There is something for everyone here. Trail to run the Lake, parks for kids, lots of great restaurants and shopping all around, a bonsai park, a lovely community garden, and more.

This is a very old cemetery for Oakland and a great place to get some quite, get a view of the city from the hill, or have a little picnic. Piedmont Ave has some great food too.

Wonderful redwoods. These are third growth Redwoods but they are still majestic! There were once huge redwoods bigger than Muir Woods here in Oakland. Nice play park for kids too. Great spot for picnics.

Really lovely little park not far from the house. Probably my first choice for a picnic. Amazing stone work stairway and landscaping. Play structures too.

A little farther from the house but worth the trip for the stream train that usually runs on the weekends and I think year round in the summer. It goes through the forest and there are cute miniature "towns". Great during sunset. Kids love it but I would go without kids too!

This is more like a biergarten with a big selection of beer and some wine. Great outdoor seating with a view of the Lake. You can bring kids. The food is pretty good too. Sometimes there are DJs.

We would go here Friday nights for the Food Trucks and the music. Plus, the museum is open late and half price. Great museum--much better than expected! Get food from the Food Trucks then have a picnic in their courtyard. If you have kids they will love to run around.
