A great supermarket for organic & local produce. If you really don't like cooking (or just dont feel like it), check out the ready-to-go section. The Roti is delicious. I find myself wondering the local beers section a lot too.

Entertainment & Activities
Love going here: great movies, great atmosphere! They usually play a selection of independent films, edgy arthouse and documentaries. After the movie, just stay for a drink. Locals really love doing that here too! Fun fact: the Kriterion is run entirely by students.

Arts & Culture
One of my favourite museums because of the diversity of the expo's. The permanent collection is amazing as well. You can really take a dive into culture and art. A rainy afternoon? Just go hang out here all day. The restaurant is amazing as well and just re-opened.

If you're driving to Amsterdam by car, this is a great and safe spot to park.

Go for a run, a walk, have a drink at The Tropenhotel or Hotel Arena, play tennis, or just admire all the green around you. A great park - recently renovated to make it even more of an awesome place to hang out on a sunny afternoon. Locals love to barbecue here as well in the summer. So just get some meat, some beers, a throw-away-bbq and you are good to go!

If you're into a Mediterranean meal - this is your spot. Located one the ground floor of the Student Hotel, you will spot a lot of residents here to crab a bite. I love this place because of the great easy-going vibe. Nothing pretentious. Lovely food, lovely staff!

The best restaurant within a 3 minute walk! The menu is based on temperature. You can experience (in a 3 or 5 course meal) what different temperature (from below zero to crazy hot grilling) does to one product. Maybe a tad more pricier than surrounding restaurants, but worth every euro!
